Thank you for your cooperation. ** *Also note that NEW meeting times for the 2012 semester will now be on Tuesdays from 12:30pm - 1:30pm.* Nipissing University Women's Centre Minutes Bathtub Project - due to scheduling conflicts, the event will be running from March 19th to March 30th - however we will still be accepting donations this week in front of our office at A244a - posters - we still need volunteers to help us drive the donations to their respective shelters, please contact us asap - contacted: grocery stores, pharmacies - need to be contacted: downtown businesses, mall stores, dentists, more pharmacies, metro(grocery store), End of the Year Party (March 30th) - dinner will take place @ Cecil's - dinner will start at 6:00pm - please RSVP by the 23rd if you are sure you will be attending White Ribbon Campaign (April 2nd & April 3rd) - a table needs to be reserved - a Doodle will be set up for table hours - monetary donations will be accepted at the table, and donors will receive a painted ribbon on their hand(?) Next Year's Elections - nominations will be accepted until March 23rd - current nominees: Will, Morgan, Meagan, Blair, Molly, and Karlie - voting: you must be affiliated with the Women's Centre in order to vote - due to discrepancies in previous years, we will not be accepting electronic votes and notification for the voting period WILL be stated in advance - voting to take place during the week of March 26th - student numbers will be recorded to keep track of those who have already voted - voting times: - Monday: 12pm - 3pm - Tuesday: 12pm - 2pm - Wednesday: 12pm - 3pm - Thursday: 12pm - 3pm - Friday: 10am - 2pm Renaming of the Women's Centre - we are considering renaming the centre - we will be consulting with the gender department and the school about the renaming to make sure that it is permissible - possible names include: Gender Equality (and Social Justice) Centre - make sure to cover all gender issues, but that women's issues do not fall by the wayside - events will be the same(?) - suggestions are being accepted Prom Dresses - provides dresses for underprivileged girls attending their prom - accepting donations: dresses, accessories - date to be announced Any suggestions/ideas for upcoming events or otherwise are always welcome :) Add Comment Meeting Minutes for March 6th, 2012 03/06/2012

Savoury Solutions for Eating Ethically: Drop-In & Discussion - presented by Women's Centre and Pride on Campus - tomorrow (March 7th) at 1pm - 5pm in H131 White Ribbon Campaign - April 2nd and April 3rd - contact art department for white and red paint as well as large brown paper, explore other options as well Bathtub Project - press release acknowledging all donations - posters advertising the event will be printed out this week - call around to local businesses for donations(?) - transport for the products at the end of the event is being discussed. New Meet Time -we will begin our meetings at 11:30 sharp -if you are late or have to leave at any point then just exit quietly 2.) Passion Party (Feb.1) -we will have another Fantasia party at the wall on Feb. 1 at 7:10pm -MEN and WOMEN are allowed -it is an all inclusive event -there will be games and prizes 3.) Club Daze (Jan. 17-21) -Club Daze was a failure -only two people volunteered to sit out with our bulletin board 4.) Lottery for North Bay Aids Committee -winner ($100.00): Andy -donation ($200.00): North Bay Aids Committee 5.) Intro Classes -we will be touring the introduction courses and trying to recruit new members -any existing members are encouraged to come and talk about the women’s centre at these times: -Tuesday 6:30 (Sal’s) -Wednesday 12:30 (Wendy’s) 6.) Lads N’ Lashes (Feb. 25) -tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door 7.) White Ribbon Campaign -we need to start brainstorming about this event -Matt needs to quotes on a banner for the event 8.) Vagina Monologues -our contribution to IWW will be this play -auditions begin Jan. 24 and will be going until Jan 26th -they will be held in F210 -they will be from 9:30pm-11:00pm -Talk to Trina or Lisanne for more information -only women can be in the play, but men can be working behind the scenes -all WC members should be advertising in their classes because this play and its actors are not restricted to the WC and its members -Trina has volunteered to make the tickets -tickets will be $5 for students and $7 for the public 9.) Bath Tub Project -we will be holding the bath tub project for two weeks this year (one week before and one week after reading week) -members will be required to call around to local hotels, grocery stores, dentist offices, etc. to ask for donations -the project does not require that people sit at a booth. We do need someone to flip the pool over in the morning and throw a couple of products in there and then take the products out at the end of the night and rest the pool against the wall. This needs to be done every day. -better advertising and media coverage needs to be thought of this year -if anyone has any ideas for attention grab then please email us back or flag one of us down in the hall. -we need to contact Residence for support. Constitution and Elections -elections should happen earlier this year because most of the current executives will be gone next year. Having the elections happen earlier means that the newly elected can have ample time to shadow their respective executive. -something to consider is whether you want voting to happen by paper or electronic ballot. -should we or shouldn’t we fix the constitution? This was a concern of last year’s members and executives. We decided that we needed to have more member vocal participation for us to change it. Members don’t seem concerned so we won’t be changing it until someone comes to us with concern or the newly elected members ask us to. -Because many of the members and executives will be leaving Nipissing this is a chance for younger members or other members who have been dissatisfied with the WC’s politics to come forward and enhance the WC. -this will be discussed when we tour the Intro GEND courses 9.) New Posters for WC -we need new posters with our new time and date on them -Sarah-Jane is responsible for creating and distributing them 10.)
